My camera seems to have a Loyalist bent, since it took much better pics of the Contemptor than the Ironclads this time. Kinda OK with that, tho, since the Ironclads need a lot more work. Especially the one built around the Helbrute torso. So much flesh on that, and so entwined with the metal. I love the look, but it's a major pain to paint.
They're pretty close to having all the base coating and some of the highlights done. Since the basing is mostly done on the Contemptor, and I'm using premade bases on the Ironclads, I'm OK with being a little behind the official timetable at this point. Y'all have a good one now, y'hear!
Looking good, man! I'm digging 'em!
ReplyDeleteThanks, dude! Other than the pose on the one with the hammer up, I'm really happy with them myself.
DeleteReally cool. Like the kitbashing with the SW dread kit. All the bits just work really well on a contemptor
ReplyDeleteYeah, there are a bunch of great places to put stuff to customize that Model. Thanks!
DeleteI like the conversions! The Space Wolf looks really cool with the trophy rack. And cool mashups between the helbrutes and ironclad
ReplyDeleteThanks! I kitbash Chaos stuff like that all the time, mixing in parts from the newer, more extreme Models with older ones or Loyalist parts. It helps a bit to avoid having such a stark split in appearance between my older and newer Models, and for an Army that's going on 20 years old, that really matters.
DeleteThe Contemptor can also pop the trophy rack off and replace it with a Cyclone, but it does look much cooler with the trophy rack :)
20 years! I don't quite have you there, but I can appreciate trying to combine the old models in with the new hotness.
DeleteYeah, I started with a handful of Noise Marine blister packs back in '97. I've drifted out of the hobby a bit a couple of times, but never to the point of selling off my stuff, and I've always ended up coming back. Too much great fluff, and too many great people to stay away from the scene.
