Good Enough

I've hit the limit of my sculpting skill/patience/willingness to keep working on these guys. Next clear day, they're getting some primer. I didn't get them to where I wanted, to what I saw in my head, but I'm far, far happier with them than I was with the stock Models.

Dreadtober stuff is ticking along nicely, but not enough to be worth another pic, between what I posted last and the finish line. Also got a few things coming up on completion for Azazel's Unit-ed October challenge, from Silver Tower and the gribblies from Rogue Trader. Y'all have a good one, y'hear!

    1. I am fundamentally incapable of working on only one thing at a time XD

    2. I figured that would strike a chord with some people around here!

  2. You weren't into the naked little men vibe?

Looks good, and I've learned with sculpting that is rarely goes as planned. It's not my forte, but I try every chance I can; it's all you can do.

Once these are all painted up they will no doubt look good.

    1. That makes me kind of want to get another set and do them all up as Crybaby Clown from Scooby Doo.

Yep. They're not what I wanted, but they are better than much of the sculpting I did before. Practice always helps. A little better every time.

  3. These are excellent! (although the greenstuff and red plastic gives them a bit of an xmas elf vibe. I'm sure you'll sort that out!) I wasn't going to buy Chosen Axes because naked dwarfs are an affront to the senses. If I did then I would do the exact same thing as you. But then I joined a Shadespire league and saw some painted ones which are simply stunning. Their owner used darker skin tones, textured effects and criss crossed the skin with scars and it looks cool. Now I'm not sure what I want to do. Looking forward to seeing these painted.

    1. Thanks! They're more orange than red in person, which cuts down on the xmas thing.

I am planning on doing a non-standard paintjob as well. Something like this: https://belchedfromthedepths.blogspot.com/2014/11/dungeon-dwellers-fire-giant.html

I'm probably going to wait on painting them until I can pick up some Black 2.0 (https://smile.amazon.com/Stuart-Semple-mattest-flattest-acrylic/dp/B0758GKKGZ/) to really go all out with the effect.

  4. These are really, really nice. I like the subtle changes from Fyreslayers to "regular" Duardin.

    1. Thanks! I wouldn't actually describe the changes I made as "subtle", tho ;)

I'm actually still considering them to be Fyreslayers, just doing my own take on what I would have wanted Fyreslayers to be. The reply to Monkey Chuka above has a link to an inspiration for the paint job.
