Pretty solid work lately. This is actually where I was at the weekend, I've just been lazy about getting it posted. The Alpha Legion Contemptor is done for now. Still needs some more work on the base, but that's easier to do when I have a bunch of them, so it's waiting until I have a couple of Squads done as well. I also want to get some insignia on there, but my hands haven't been steady enough lately. The main metal layers are done on the SphinxFiend and the DG Helbrutes. I've since started blocking in the blue and green respectively. I'll let the pics take it from here:
That's it for now. Back to trying to not blob Caledor Sky all over that gold. Until next time, y'all have a good one, y'hear!
Really like the colours on the contemptor. Is that Teclis blue? With washes? Plasma Head is still my favourite.
ReplyDeleteI'm really happy with that blue as well. It's one of the few times I've really played around with different approaches on a test model to make sure I was getting just what I wanted. It's Thousand Sons blue with a heavy overbrush of Ahriman blue, and then a glaze of Army Painter green tone ink, 50/50 thinned down with Lahmian Medium. I have some Primaris Reivers almost done in the same scheme, too, and they look fantastic.
DeleteThe plasma head is great. I tried to do some OSL from the eyes, but realized that it's not the right kind of source for that, the light source is sunk too far down in for it to shine on any part of the Model itself. So there was some repainting on that ;)
green tone ink, hey? hmmmm... thanks for the tip I might check it out
DeleteI'm not really a fan of the QuickShade dip that they're known for, but their ink washes are fantastic. I picked up the full set, plus a couple of extra of the Strong Tone and Dark Tone. Near perfect matches for Devlan Mud and Badab Black, respectively.
